Mau Mau is a card game for at least two players and is usually played with 32 cards. But a 52-card hand also works.
Goal of the game
The goal of the game is to play all cards as fast as possible. The winner is the player who first played all his cards. This player then says Mau Mau and the game is over.
Gameplay + ground rules
First the dealer is determined. This player then gives each player 5 cards. The rest of the playing cards are then placed face down in the middle of the table as a talon.
Now the top card is taken from the Talon and placed next to it.
If possible, clockwise, each player places one of his cards on the face-up card. This is possible if the card to be deposited in card value or card color matches the card that is revealed. If, for example, a heart 8 is there, then a card with the color heart or a card with the value 8 may be placed on this card .
If a player can not discard a card, he must draw a card from the Talon.
There are regionally different rules, but often the following rules are played:
- 7 – For a value of 7, the next player must draw two cards. If he can also put a 7 on the stack, the next player has to draw 2 times 2 cards.
- 8 – For a value of 8, the next player must be suspended.
- Jack – In a Jack, the player may want a different color, but the jack may be placed on any other suit.
- Penultimate card – If a player plays the penultimate card, he must say Mau . If he forgets that, he must draw 1 or 2 cards as a penalty.
